| Silent Hill 3 Review Graphics : 10/10 Gameplay : 8.8/10 Music : 10/10 Story : 9.8/10 Overall : 9.6/10 Silent Hill 3, I can’t even remember how long it’s been since I heard about this game. Since hearing about it, I’ve been so excited to see what would be new and what the story would be about. I was expecting a lot of what was in the two previous SH games, SH1 and SH2. Sure, I found out that the story would go with SH1’s storyline, but I didn’t know that there would be surprises that would come up during my adventure in SH3. The game has so much that it lives up to. New characters, new storyline, new game engine, and of course… new music. Some believe that this game would be the same thing over and over, going back to Silent Hill and so on. But the story takes a different path before hand. |
| To start out how the story goes, you play the main character, Heather Morris. She’s just an average everyday girl. She finds herself having a dream about an amusement Park. While going thru the amusement park, she finds herself encountering many different monster which you’ll see throughout the game later on. While this nightmare continues and seems to never stop, it finally ends. Heather then wakes up in one of the best places to eat in Silent Hill, Happy Burger, which is located in a mall that she is visiting. She finds that it was just a dream… or was it. The mall is all of silence, no one is around and it seems something isn’t right. You’ll meet Detective Douglas Crevant in the abandoned shopping mall. Then after that, the nightmare will start to beginning. What will happen to Heather and what will she have to overcome?… You’ll meet up some puzzles that are in all SH games, but it seems the one’s in SH3 are pretty easy and you shouldn’t have any trouble getting pasted them to enjoy what’s ahead. Other than a great story, Silent Hill 3 has something else to enjoy. The gameplay, which is really the same as previous SH games. The controls are the same as in SH2. One thing to notice is that the Extra Options menu will be available from the start, so you won’t have to complete the game. Once you do complete the game, more options will be available in the “Extra Options” menu. There is also a lot more to unlock every time you complete the game. You can unlock new costumes for Heather to wear in the game. What’s so neat about the costumes is that you can change them anytime during the game. There is 3 endings in the game, Normal, Possessed, and UFO. From what I’ve seen in the game, it seems the gameplay maybe pretty much the same, but I feel that controls respond very well. But you’ll see pretty much the same controls that were in SH2. Graphics are so awesome! Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo decided to make a whole new game engine for SH3, and they did just that. The character models, frame rate, environments are so clear and realistic. It’s amazing how everything turned out for the graphics in the game. If you have the North American version of SH3, you would have gotten the SH3 Official Soundtrack that came with the game. It’s a 25 song soundtrack from all the music that is in the game. I’ve really enjoyed listening to it, can’t get enough of it. One thing, most may know, that I really enjoy about the SH series is, the music. Also a big thanks goes out to Akira Yamaoka for such a great soundtrack and for all he does for the sound/music of the SH games. He continues strong with more emotional, sit back type of music. Electric guitar, piano, strings, voices… everything he puts in his music when making it for the SH games. SH3 has yet top with more excellent music that will live on for a long time. I’ll always enjoy all the music he makes. If you have the Japanese version you should get a 5 song soundtrack. I really like how they include a game soundtrack with the game. My final thoughts would have to be this, if you’re a fan of the SH series, it’s a must to get Silent Hill 3. If you’ve never played any SH game, you may want to start with SH1, then SH2, then finally SH3. If you’ve just played SH1, then you should enjoy the game no matter what since the story goes with SH3’s storyline. I’ve been a fan of the SH series for about over 3 years now and continue to see high hopes for the series. It never gets to old, yet keeps right with new ideas. I hope the series can continue on, but from what I’ve see in SH3, it seems it’ll take a lot of work to top what I’ve seen. But I know they can do it. Thanks for a great game.
